bauxite

bauxite

Bauxite is one of the most important industrial minerals and it being the aluminium ore, is the principal raw material for the production of alumina. Bauxite is also used as an important raw material for many other products like Alumina, Cement, Abrasives, High Strength Proppant, Emery, Alum etc. Rawmin and its group companies are one of the leading Bauxite mines owners in western India with substantial reserves of the finest quality of Bauxite.

Bauxite produced by Bauxite mining leases under Rawmin's control, as well as those purchased from third parties, are marketed by Rawmin. The target supply sources and customer bases are highly diversified, and demonstrate the company's reputation for strong relationships in both markets. It is favorable for Rawmin as a Mining Company and Exporter of Bauxite to have a healthy tailwind of strengthening aluminum prices, particularly while the alumina price linkage to aluminum persists.

The future of Bauxite :

China has become a net importer of Aluminum by 2016. It is expected that China may scale up its domestic production, which shall lead to an increased demand for Bauxite, more particularly for Indian Bauxite. Aluminum demand is growing around 1 million tons a year. Global Aluminum metal production is therefore expected to grow in the coming years. This trend is likely to push up the alumina capacities and in turn increasing the Bauxite production by about 5% per annum globally. Current projections are that this growth will continue at 6.9% per annum until 2030. Global bauxite consumption in 2014-15 was 235 million tonnes. Analysts forecast around +20MT Aluminum per annum by 2020 and an extra 110 MT Bauxite.

Existing capacity and current alumina plant expansions will be sufficient to meet market needs for the next 12 to 18 months but substantial new refining capacity and Bauxite supplies will be required after 2016. The supply chain of Aluminium from resource to end-user, thus has a strong future.
